5.0-MAGNITUDE QUAKE STRIKES SAUMLAKI IN MALUKU

Jakarta Forum - Bandarlampung, Jan 27 - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said a 5.0-magnitude quake struck on Tuesday at 11.14 p.m local time.

The quake`s epicenter was located 237 kilometers northwest of Saumlaki, Maluku, 8.46 degrees southern latitude and 129.24 degrees eastern longitude.

The quake which struck at a depth of 10 kilometers has no potential to trigger a tsunami. Its epicenter was also located 406 kilometers northeast of Dili, Timor Leste; 496 kilometers northwest of Darwin, Australia; 499 kilometers southwest of Tual, Maluku; and 2,502 kilometers southeast of Jakarta.
