EUROPEAN DEBT CRISIS GENERATING BENEFIT FOR RI : OBSERVER

Jakarta Forum - Jakarta, Economic observer Aviliani said the debt crisis happening in several European countries would generate certain benefits for Indonesia.

"The European crisis triggered by the swelling of debts in Greece and several other countries will even have a good effect on us as capital will flow into Indonesia," she said after a seminar held by ANTARA here on Monday.

She said in the next two years investment will flow to Indonesia as investors will feel more comfortable investing here.

"So now is the time to push development of our market and direct the funds flow not only into the capital market which is still limited but also into the real sector," she said.

She said it was time for companies that wished to come into the market to immediately issue their securities be they bonds or stocks.

"Now is the right time for us because investors are seeking a secure and profitable place," she said.

She said Indonesia was still profitable because its interest rates are still quite high while the reference BI rate was still around 6.5 percent.

She said the flow of funds into the country would make the rupiah more stable and the country`s economy in general more easy to control.
