HILLARY CLINTON TO TRAVEL TO QATAR, SAUDI

Jakarta Forum - WASHINGTON, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will travel to Qatar and Saudi Arabia February 13 to 16, the State Department said Tuesday.

The State Department announced the trip on its DipNote Twitter account, which officials said was the first time the department has announced the secretary`s travel plans in a tweet.

There were no immediate details on the trip.

However, Clinton is expected to attend the US-Islamic World Forum in Doha.

In his inauguration speech last year, President Barack Obama vowed to seek a "new way forward" with the Muslim world "based on mutual interest and respect," after eight rocky years under his predecessor George W. Bush.

During Clinton`s stop in Saudi Arabia, she is likely to discuss the Arab-Israeli peace process, ways to curb Iran`s nuclear ambitions and the threat from Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, in neighboring Yemen.
