Money Market: RUPIAH STABLE AT RP9,362 PER US DOLLAR

Jakarta Forum - Jakarta, The rupiah remained stable at the level of Rp9,362 per US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market as investors tended to buy the local unit although in relatively small amounts.

The Indonesian currency traded Rp9,362-Rp9,372 per US dollar, up three points from Rp9,365-Rp9,375 per US dollar at the market`s close a day earlier.

Investors, in fact, were still cautious as the global economiv developments were still marked by some uncertainties, according to Alfiansyah, a money market analyst of PT Sinarmas Securities.

However, Wall Street gains encouraged investors to buy rupiahs instead of dollars, he said.

He also predicted that Bank Indonesia (BI) would make efforts to maintain the rupiah`s exchange rate at between Rp9,300 and Rp9,500 per US dollar.
