UP: Kalka Express derailed, over 100 injured

New Delhi: The Howrah-Delhi-Kalka Express derailed near Fathepur Malwa in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, injuring many passengers on-board. The incident took place around 12:30 pm.

Reports say that 13 bogies have been derailed and more than 100 passengers have been injured. Sources claim that three passengers are in a critical condition.

The Howrah-Delhi route has been disrupted due to the accident and authorities are saying that trains plying on this route will either be diverted or cancelled.

The train was passing through Malwa station when its engine alongwith 12 bogies got derailed, sources said, adding that the injured were being shifted to local hospitals and relief trains were on their way.

The General Manager of the Northern Railways said that the number of injured passengers could go up to 100.
