The chairman of a panel of judges at the Corruption Court here, Suhartoyo, said Gayus had validly been proven guilty of corruption in several cases.
Gayus had been charged on four counts including receiving Rp925 million and US$3.5 million illegally from Robertus Santonius in connection with a tax complaint from PT Metropolitan Retailment.
The others are receiving money with regard to taxes of PT Kaltim Prima Coal and PT Arutmin and bribing officers at the police Mobile Brigade detention cell.
Upon hearing the verdict Gayus and the prosecution had asked for time to consider whether to appeal it or not.
